Strengthening Partnership Project

Project plans

In consultation with each Pacific State, project plans have been developed that identify focus areas for providing technical assistance.  Pacific states will be the drivers for the delivery of this assistance and ensuring that any issues that arise during the life of the SPP are identified at the earliest opportunity.

In line with outcomes from the SPP Workshop, the project plans focus on five main areas for assistance.  Workshop participants identified these areas as being crucial to build, maintain, and sustain the operation of RSE arrangements in each of the Pacific states over the long term.

These focus areas are:

  1. Information management – strengthening capacity to collect and extrapolate relevant information to meet internal and external reporting needs and to inform future development of its services and functions.
  2. Processes - strengthening the processes that underpinned the operations to inform and manage expectations of workers and New Zealand employers about the services offered.
  3. Knowledge - building the capacity and knowledge of operational staff responsible for the delivery of the services.
  4. Communication - disseminating information to raise awareness of RSE, inform, and manage expectations of key stakeholders.
  5. Marketing - increasing the exposure of Pacific states as a source of reliable and productive labour to expand employment opportunities available under the RSE policy.

We are working in partnership with the Pacific States, The World Bank, Pacific Corporation Foundation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Industry and the New Zealand Council of Trade Unions.
