Acting Deputy Secretary - Workplace:

Lesley Haines currently leads the Workplace Group of Department of Labour, Workplace provides advice, policy and services on workplace related matters to New Zealanders. We contribute to fair, safe and productive workplaces, for New Zealanders and an efficient and sustainable workers accident compensation scheme.

Lesley joined the Department in 2005, and prior to joining Workplace, worked in the Workforce Group dealing with immigration and employment, as Group Manager Policy and Acting Deputy Secretary Workforce.

Lesley holds a Masters of Economics from the Australian National University and has worked in the New Zealand Public Service for the last twenty years.  Prior to the joining the Department of Labour Lesley held policy and management roles in the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, the Treasury and in the social policy sector.
