Deputy Secretary - Work Directions:

Benedikte Jensen is currently acting in the Deputy Secretary Work Directions role. Work Directions helps improve the performance of our workforce and workplaces by actively responding to the constraints and opportunities of our current and future labour markets. Work Directions works with other key players who can influence economic development to help shape the future of work.

Until November 2009 Benedikte was the Research Director at the New Zealand Institute. Prior to that, she worked for the Treasury for 12 years, most recently as Director of Tax Policy. Her management roles at the Treasury spanned labour market regulation, welfare policy, economic strategy and tax policy. Before joining the Treasury, Benedikte worked for the labour market policy group at the Department of Labour as an economic advisor.
