Acting Deputy Chief Executive - Legal and International Group

George Mason leads the Department’s Legal and International Group.

His responsibilities include managing legal services and advice to the Department and Ministers; the Government's relationship with the International Labour Organisation (ILO); the Department's representation in courts and tribunals, and the development of labour-related legislative reforms and their passage through Parliament.

George has worked for the Department for a number of years. Before taking the role of Acting Deputy Chief Executive, he was Director of Litigation and Legal Counsel. He has represented New Zealand at the International Labour Organisation.
