Our work ideals

Click below to learn about our work ideals. These are the qualities we offer as an employer. These ideals are seen in our workplaces and are part of our culture and employment philosophies.

Positive change

A key aspect of our work is in making positive changes for New Zealanders, helping us to all lead fulfilling work lives. We aim to do the same for our own people too by creating an attractive working environment. Working here you'll find opportunities for development and a variety of challenges that will help you build a successful career.

As an organisation we understand how important it is to grow and develop. So we embrace positive changes that will help us to move forward and create a stronger organisation, in-tune with the needs of New Zealand and of our teams.

Thought leadership

Many of our projects are at the forefront of global developments in areas such as immigration, labour market analysis, and employment relations. Our cutting edge projects attract the very best and brightest minds in these areas. So as part of our team you'll be able to work with, and learn from, internationally recognised thought leaders.

These ground-breaking projects also offer our people the chance to take the lead in specialist areas and develop innovative approaches to problems, giving them the chance to become experts in their own field.

Flexibility

We encourage businesses across New Zealand to offer their employees a flexible working/life conditions balance. Championing this campaign, we try to create opportunities for our own people to work more flexibly. We want to help you find a comfortable balance between your working life and your home life.

Different roles within our organisation have differing work requirements and conditions, but whatever your position here we will try to work with you to develop a working arrangement that suits your lifestyle.

Diversity

Our field of work and breadth of expertise spread across a broad range of areas, from immigration and skills shortages to health and safety. Because of this unique scope we can offer you a truly diverse career - with a range of roles and opportunities. And throughout your career we'll support you to branch out with training and development programmes.

We're proud of the diverse range of people that make-up our workforce. We encourage people from different communities to work here. We value the contribution every person makes to our workplace and our work ideals.

Global reach

Although our focus is on helping New Zealanders, most of the work we do has an international connection. Immigration deals with new residents and visitors from all corners of the globe. Many of our projects tackle worldwide issues. A number of our programmes in areas like skills development and workplace initiatives are setting new international standards.

We have a strong presence on the ground in many countries, with over 250 people working offshore. There exists the potential for you to add an international dimension to your career by taking up an overseas posting.
