Monthly Migration Trends - May 2010  2010-07-29
This report provides a brief summary of migration trends for the 2009/10 financial year to date (July 2009-May 2010). The report focuses on three key areas: the New Zealand Residence Programme, permanent skilled migration, and temporary entry. All immigration data is sourced from Department of Labour administrative data and, unless otherwise stated, is reported as a count of individual people rather than the number of applications.

Jobs Online Monthly Report - June 2010 2010-07-19
Jobs Online shows that job advertisements have increased over the three months to the end of June 2010. The increase in job vacancies — in conjunction with other labour market data — indicates that employment prospects in the economy continue to improve and that the labour market is strengthening.

There is a high level of diversity within the Asian ethnic groups. Asians in New Zealand differ widely in areas such as language, culture and settlement history. All of these factors can impact on labour market outcomes and there are serious limitations in using the term 'Asian' as a blanket ethnic descriptor. In particular, smaller ethnic minorities may be lost by averaging within such a large grouping, and as a result, their specific labour market outcomes may be rendered invisible.
